With the closure of art schools, community groups and social spaces, life modelling gigs have evaporated over night. Like many creative freelancers, life models now face a daunting future.
#GetYaNudesOut is a campaign to celebrate the creative connections between life models and artists. With this hashtag, you can buy some fabulous art and support them through hard times.
Here’s how it works:
ARTISTS, dig out those drawings and paintings you made in your local group or art school. Photograph or scan them, price them (see below) and post them on social media with the hashtag #GetYaNudesOut. Name and tag the model.
MODELS, share this page with those artists and group organisers you have worked with. Encourage them to get involved. Follow the hashtag #GetYaNudesOut and share posts.
ART LOVERS, search #GetYaNudesOut and browse the works available to buy. If you find something you like, contact the artist directly and make them an offer. Pay the artist and make a post tagging both artist and model to celebrate your new purchase. Once payment is received, the artist will arrange delivery of the artwork and transfer money to the model.
If you are not on social media, just get in touch with us at Figuration and we’ll post on your behalf.
Just a few things to keep in mind, to make the initiative fair, easy and transparent:
This is a grass-roots campaign operated on trust. It is the responsibility of the artist, model and purchaser to define and fulfill any transaction. We regret that Figuration cannot be held accountable for any breech of this trust.
We encourage a minimum asking price of £40 (excluding postage & packing), which is equivalent to the standard model fee rate for a 2-hour gig.
Artists, you may decide to charge more than £40 with the additional money helping you in these challenging times. Depending on your circumstances, you may choose to share any extra money raised with the model.
Importantly, tag the model to show you’re both on board. If you need any support making that connection, contact us.
As a network, we can support each other in this, but should you need any guidance on costings or where/how to market works contact us.
