Working with simple materials and your smartphone, artist Leo Crane will guide you through the process of erasure animation in charcoal. Drawing, capturing, erasing and re-drawing, you will make a series of ephemeral frames to produce your own moving image.

We will start with an introduction to inspiring charcoal animations, the process and technical set up. You will then have time to develop your animation ideas. After lunch, you will work individually to create your short animation, with creative and technical support throughout the afternoon. At the end of the day, you will have a short silent film ready to share with the group and online, should you wish.

No experience is necessary, but you will need to bring a smartphone and charger, and to download an app (c£3) to you phone prior to attending.
